Mission

To increase the protection of our Serrano neighborhoods and homes from wildland fire events by communicating with and educating area residents about the risk associated with living in a wildland-urban area, motivating them to protect their homes and property.

Description

The Serrano Fire Safe Council is a community-driven, independent, grassroots organization managed by a board of directors. We provide updates, information, and assistance to homeowners who harden their homes, maintain defensible space, receive insurance renewal conditions, and want to qualify for insurance discounts.

The El Dorado County Fire Safe Council is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit. As an Associate Council, we share this tax-exempt status and can apply for grant funds to support community-wide mitigation projects.

Four Serrano homeowners—Ken Hansen, Rich Langan, Bill Osgood, and Diane Ross—formed the Serrano Fire Safe Council in 2024.

Call for Volunteers

The Serrano Fire Safe Council, a testament to our community's strength, depends on the invaluable contributions of volunteers. We seek Serrano residents who can help with newsletters and email updates, workshops and town halls, grant applications, defensible space assessments, and fundraising. Your involvement is not just appreciated; it's essential.
